Who we are

Oscar Capiello Llamozas is a distinguished Venezuelan architect and internationally recognized figure in contemporary architecture. His work is defined by clarity of form, contextual sensitivity, and a deep commitment to the human experience of space. He graduated from the Central University of Venezuela in 1982 with an Outstanding Thesis Award for his design of the Supreme Court of Justice. He also completed advanced studies at Universidad Católica Andrés Bello and Universidad Simón Bolívar, where he has served as a guest professor.

A member of both the Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela (CIV 41.881) and the Colegio de Arquitectos de Venezuela (CAV 5248), Oscar has led several influential architectural practices, including TA Taller de Arquitectura (1990–1997) and PC Arquitectos (1998–2014). Today, he is a partner at Capiello Legorburu Arquitectos Asociados and Mendoza Capiello Arquitectos Asociados.

Gustavo Legorburu is a Venezuelan architect renowned for his rigorous approach to design and his international perspective on architecture. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Central University of Venezuela in 1984 and went on to complete postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York, earning a Master of Science in Architecture and Building Design in 1989.

A member of the Colegio de Ingenieros de Venezuela (CIV 42.426), Gustavo has been a dedicated educator, serving as a Professor of Architectural Design at the Central University of Venezuela from 1991 to 2017. His expertise has also been recognized internationally: he was invited to lecture at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2004, presented at the U.S.A Seminar, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in 1993, and served as a guest juror at Pratt Institute Architecture School in Brooklyn, New York, in 1991.

During his time in New York, Gustavo gained invaluable experience working with Kohn Pedersen Fox (1989) and Voorsanger & Associates (1989–1991). In Venezuela, he has led and collaborated in several practices, including Gustavo Legorburu R (1991–1997), a partnership with Luisa Gonzalez (1997–2005), and currently as a partner at Capiello Legorburu Arquitectos Asociados and associate at Mendoza Capiello Arquitectos.

International Projects and Recognition

capiello+legorburu’s work extends beyond Venezuela, with participation in prestigious competitions and projects in Europe and the United States, where his designs have been recognized for their innovation, contextual intelligence, and architectural excellence. While many of these international projects were competition-based, they reflect his status as an architect of global influence and his capacity to engage with diverse cultural and urban contexts.

In Venezuela, their projects have received top honors, including the Gran Premio Nacional de Arquitectura at the XIV Bienal Venezolana de Arquitectura (2024), awarded alongside Francisco Pimentel Malaussena for the Parque Profesional del Este. This award highlights their dedication to sustainability, energy efficiency, and urban quality.
